Equal parts #MashTag, gypsy brewing and Equity Punk genius, the Beatnik Brewing Collective is one of our favourite events of the year. From the beer style to hops and the ABV, we gave our army of craft beer aficionado’s the opportunity to design a delicious and democratic Equity Punk-exclusive beer, as well as a chance to watch it be brewed on site.

So, on what turned out to be an alarmingly sunny day in Aberdeen, 500 of our Equity Punks made their way to our Ellon brewery to do exactly that. And what a beer they came up with!

After a virtual forum battle of epic proportions, our Equity Punks landed on an 8-10% red ale, brewed with Marris Otter, Dark Crystal and Munich malts plus a heady mix of Apollo, Centennial and Simcoe hops. The brewing of this hoptastic beer was by no means the only reason our shareholders flocked up to Aberdeen to see us. We also opened up our brewery for everyone to take a look at Site 3, witness the Beatnik beer being brewed and have a cheeky tasting of gin at our shiny new distillery, Lone Wolf.

Showing off how we brew our beers is something we are always so proud of and excited to share with our shareholder community, and it seems you guys were just as impressed to see it in the flesh (so to speak).

After experiencing the Willy Wonka-esque madness of our brewery, our Equity Punks were given the opportunity to attend a Q&A and beer tasting with our captain James, to chat about some of our highlights from 2016 and some of our most exciting plans for the future.

From the planning of our all new sours facility, to updates from our state of the art brewery in Ohio, James took the room through all the seriously epic plans we have lined up this coming year. But of all the updates given, it was clear what people were most excited about – the arrival of 100ml bottles of Tactical Nuclear Penguin.

In between the brewery tours and exclusive beery updates, our Beatnik crew took it upon themselves to sample some awesome local food from the likes of AGM favourites Mighty Mexican, and Piggery Smokery, who brought along their very special Beatnik Bacon! And of course, no BrewDog day would be complete without the opportunity to kick back with the products of a brewery our shareholders helped create.

A massive thank you to everyone who came up for our Beatnik Brewing Collective day, to see you all getting involved in what is set to be a seriously impressive beer is something we will never forget!
