Birthdays. Like a Christmas Day you don’t have to share with everyone. You still get the presents, but without the need to eat sprouts or sit through an afternoon’s-worth of Dad’s Army (well, unless you want to). Here at BrewDog, we recognise the importance of that special day – which is why our Equity Punk shareholders are entitled to a free beer each and every year on their birthday.

And we would love for our army of investors to tell us what they are having!

Yes, if you are an investor and either painting the town red in a celebratory frenzy of ‘a big one’, or simply taking it easy amidst a spot of quiet reflection, you can share your birthday beer on social media. Simply take a photo of your beer, yourself, your dog or all three and use the hashtag #BirthdayPunk. Tell us what you are enjoying and in which BrewDog bar you are revelling.

The free birthday beer entitlement – which involves any standard measure of any BrewDog draft beer – is just one of the benefits of investing in BrewDog, and runs for as many birthdays as you have left on this wonderful, brewery-rich planet.

Maybe that’s why the Queen has two of them each year; she’s realised how much of a good thing they can be. Well, if her Ma’amship is also a card-carrying Equity Punk, and turns up at BrewDog Camden with her smartphone – she can let us know the beer she’s enjoying (it would have to be Punk IPA, surely?) using the #BirthdayPunk hashtag. Just like all our other celebratory shareholders!

We might not be able to send you a card, but we can pour you a beer. Many happy returns!

Just another vote for some kind of flexibility on this. My birthday is 26 Dec and it's very unlikely I'll get much chance to take advantage. It's obviously a minor thing really but in these modern times there must be a way of doing it!

Hi all - again to re-iterate, we can only offer the Birthday Beer on the actual day of your birthday. It's simply the easiest way to make this perk workable for our bars teams - to check ID's as to the birthday so there's no confusion.

If we offered it as the nearest weekend or day of your choice, then - *and this is hypothetical, I'm not saying any of you would do this* - some people could turn up on multiple occasions saying their birthday is coming up, or has just been. Having to show ID on the day in question counters this.

Hey Brewdog, It's my birthday on Monday and I'm planning to visit you in Birmingham. But my ID card hasn't arrived yet. Can I claim my free drink? (Maybe with Shareholder number and my passport) Please?

The #BirthdayPunk Free Beer is available in US, or it's going to be when you open the New Facilities in Columbus, OH?
Paul 18.09.2015 @ 2:38pm
Agree with Andi - it should be easy to load the free beer on to the card so it can be used anytime (maybe within a month of your actual birthday). I had no idea it could only be used on your actual birthday and was looking forward to a birthday drink on my return onshore (even Brewdog haven't managed to put a bar on the rigs yet)!

How about if your birthday is on new years eve?

My birthday is not LIKE Christmas Day, it IS Christmas Day. Over the years I've got used to the mess of cards and the occasional "combined" present, but now the final twist of the knife: no Brewdog Birthday Beer... ever!

Last month I was in Brewdog Liverpool celebrating my birthday at a weekend, two days before the actual date of my birthday. Was really disappointed to find that you've got to be there on the actual date. There must be a fairly simple solution to this, or is it the intention to limit the number of us Equity Punks who are likely to actually take advantage of this benefit?
Andi 04.09.2015 @ 12:10pm
What's on the magnetic stripe on our EFP cards? You should be able to load the beer on to it for us mid week (and far from a bar) birthday people to swipe at the till. Or let us chuck a free bottle in to our online order!

John - Really sorry about this, if it wasn't better explained to you. Unfortunately we can only offer the birthday beer on the day of your actual birthday, as opposed to the nearest weekend (Stuart F this also answers your question).

Ross - Let's hope so! ;)

Got Equity for Punks for Father's Day in June. Finally got my equity for information through just before my Birthday in mid July but was told that I had to use the discount on my actual Birthday which was a Tuesday. My Birthday celebrations were on a Saturday and couldn't use the discount only a few days later which I thought was pretty poor. If this is still the case that the birthday beer has to be used only on your actual birthday, you need to let people know. It's a great discount and a bit disappointed I missed out on mine.

I had a pint of Punk IPA in the Birmingham bar back in July for my birthday. I didn't take a pic, but it's a fantastic perk for Equity Punks (unless your birthday is Feb 29th!).

I'll be in brewdog Camden the day before my birthday as part of a weekend long celebration.....do I get my #birthdaypunk freebie?
Ross 28.08.2015 @ 4:44pm
I'll be able for a birthday punk next August in what will hopefully be Brewdog Dublin.
