At BrewDog we are proud to be one of the fastest growing Food & Drinks Companies in the UK. No two days are the same when you grow that quickly, and when you are growing at 100%+ in the UK, it can be impossible to forecast accurately when it comes to the amount of different beers we brew. Sometimes we end up with too little of a beer– and sometimes we produce too much. Such is life. But we always taste everything that inhabits our warehouse to keep tabs on how things develop.

And when it comes to a pair of recent releases, it very definitely paid off.

Some of the stock in our warehouse didn’t just meet our stringent quality guidelines; our taste panel found it was even better. So we figured with Christmas on the horizon we'd share them around in full cases for anyone to add to their festive stockpile. Kingpin

24 Kingpin for £20 - from your nearest BrewDog bar

The love for our cold-conditioned king spreads so far and wide amongst our Ellon brewhouse team that we straight up brewed too much of it. A simple explanation, it resulted in enough cases of Kingpin to construct a medium-sized fort in our warehouse. But whilst that would be amazing, instead it’s better to get our 21st Century Lager to people who would appreciate it just as much (by drinking, not building with it). So cases of Kingpin are ready and waiting in our bars now!

Thanks to the fastidious nature of our world-beating warehouse team the Kingpin that was tasted by our Cicerone-trained panel had incredible levels of hop aroma and perceived bitterness throughout. Lager really is a gift that keeps on giving. And seeing as we are now well and truly in that time of year we now have more out there for those Christmas parties or festive family gatherings!

Electric India

12 Electric India for £10 - from your nearest BrewDog bar

The other beer is our hopped-up saison Electric India – it is always hugely popular, but the stock remaining of our summer seasonal is tasting truly amazing. The reason why is down to the style – the hops have faded (as hops are wont to do) and the resultant beer is now extremely like a classic rustic Belgian-style saison than our firebrand of a hybrid. The peppery estery profile from the yeast has come to the fore and the lemon sourness balanced into the aftertaste.

It’s a fascinating change to our vibrant hoppy saison – a beer style which can age really well as it was originally designed to do for the migrant farmworkers who were greeted with it following long days in the fields. They also pair really well with food – anyone looking for an all-rounder to deploy during the festive period can dial in a saison with confidence; they go brilliantly with white meat and will make the dry Christmas turkey a true centrepiece of the big day!

As we move forward and continue to grow we will also carry on tasting and evaluating everything before it leaves our warehouse and anything that remains inside. If it doesn’t meet our exacting standards, it won’t ever be released. But if we end up with more than expected and the beer holds up – or in the case of Electric India, takes on an entirely new dimension – we will very definitely let you all have the chance to taste it for yourselves.
