BREWDOG BEER GEEK AWARDS – EXTENSION!

BREWDOG BEER GEEK AWARDS – EXTENSION!

They say that time flies, and it certainly has done since the announcement last month that we had launched a brand new kind of beery competition – the BrewDog Beer Geek Awards. Something else that has flown are the number of entries we have received (flown in, that is) – currently our expert panel of Beer Geek Awards judges are staring at the thick end of almost 8,000 different entries. The response has been truly astounding.

So we are keeping the contest open for another week!

Yes we had originally intended to bring the Awards to a close today (Tuesday 18th July), but with so many people taking the time to enter we have decided to extend the deadline for those wishing to take part to Tuesday 25th July instead. You now have an extra seven days to stake your claim to Beer Geek glory – or with which to nominate somebody else you see as being truly deserving – so to celebrate let’s recap all of the categories that are ready and waiting. Simply head to TheBeerGeekAwards.com and enter!

BREWERY HOPPER GEEK

If you love checking out how beer is made and asking questions of the men and women who make it happen, this category is for you. Tell us how many independent craft breweries you’ve visited in the last year and if you tally the most, then the Brewery Hopper Geek Award is yours!

BEER SCHOLAR GEEK

Alternatively if you’ve gained a world-beating appreciation of brewing and beer styles then we have a very simple way in which you can prove it. We have compiled a two-minute test of your mettle – the ultimate beer pub quiz. Score big to gain an invite to our live final in London.

BEER BAR HOPPER GEEK

Without amazing temples to craft beer, our world would be much less interesting. If you agree and have put in the footwork then we want to hear from you – submit how many you’ve visited in the last twelve months and we will reward the most committed person out there!

BEER BLOGGING GEEK

Those spending their hard-earned free time putting fingers to keyboards letting everyone else know how amazing beer can be are unsung heroes. But unsung no more. This award is to pay back the dedication of beer bloggers and if you write about your passion, this award is for you.

BEER SOCIAL MEDIA GEEK

We live our lives in a connected world these days, and that can be a great thing when new breweries arrive, beers are launched and bars open their doors. If you – or someone you know – is an avid crusader for craft beer online, we want to hear from you (which likely won’t be a problem).

BEER REVIEW GEEK

Pretty much everyone reading this will have read at least one beer review in their lives, using it to determine whether to spend their hard-earned beer funds or not. If you document your tasters, submit five of the best and you could be our Beer Review Geek!

BEER TASTING GEEK

Finally, we have our Beer Tasting Geek Awards. Check the link above to score Eventbrite tickets to a truly epic Europe-wide simultaneous beer tasting contest taking place on Wednesday 26th July. Identify the beers you’re given and you could find yourself at the live final in London.

That final will take place later in the year in BrewDog Clerkenwell and will feature all of the awards being given out plus the final rounds of the Beer Tasting Geek and Beer Scholar Geek Awards. It will also see our judging panel reconvene to decide who amongst the category winners is deserving of the ultimate accolade – World’s Biggest Beer Geek 2017 – and receive a week-long trip of a beery lifetime to the epicentre of craft beer, San Diego, California.

To enter, all we ask is that you are over 18 and your main source of income does not already come from the beery industry. The awards are currently open only for Geeks who reside in the UK and Europe – but we are working hard to create a US version so if you are Stateside your time in the Geeky spotlight will come! Until then, for those keen to showcase their Geeky credentials, head to the website to sign up and enter.

We are proud to say that we are Beer Geeks – in fact, we have it nailed to the BrewDog Charter. This unique individualism is what makes craft beer amazing – people taking an interest and developing it into a passion. That is the mark of a true Geek. And now we have the Awards to honour them.

I did the quiz the other day and did way worse than I was expecting, Those two minutes really go by quickly so my advice would be to give it your first thought and then move on!
