BREWDOG OVERWORKS IS GO

Our ninth-annual #PunkAGM had plenty of highlights, but one that many of our Equity Punks seized was the first chance to taste beers from the BrewDog OverWorks. Our temple to the arts of alternative fermentation has been taking shape for months, and Richard Kilcullen and his team have worked all hours to get beers in barrel and tasting amazing. As with everything, our Equity Punks get the first taste. But now it’s time to take sour to the people.
The BrewDog OverWorks taproom opens in Ellon tomorrow, Friday 13th April!
This weekend sees the end of one BrewDog chapter and the start of another. For years we have wanted to do sour and wild ales justice (and you guys have been shouting for us to do so) – but we have always maintained that to fully do that, you need a bespoke facility to bring the flavour characteristics to life. It has taken us a while but all aspects of the OverWorks are now in place and these amazing styles are ready to be discovered.
Our incredible team of fermentationalists have been harnessing the power of wild yeasts and alternative flora to create a series of cultured beers that have already been hugely well-received. Here are just a few of the OverWorks beers that will be pouring from the twelve-tap taproom, alongside sour beers from guest breweries we know and love:-
Rhus – Blended tart saison with raspberries, sumac and white peppercorns
Sleekit Sour – Barrel-aged sour with native Scottish wild yeast
Gimmie Sugar – Brettanomyces-fermented saison with rhubarb and strawberries
Pinyin – Brettanomyces-fermented saison with Oolong and Jasmin tea
Yes folks!

There are so many things to be inspired by up here @BrewDog at #punkagm2018, but this guy is right up there.
There’s no doubt that @BDOverWorks’ Richard Kilcullen is going to forever change our scene for the better. pic.twitter.com/0metvYuHRc
The BrewDog OverWorks taproom opens at 5pm on Friday 13th April and is located directly over the road from DogTap and our Ellon brewery. If you are travelling up from Aberdeen, catch a bus to the Ellon Park and Ride and from there it’s a short walk up to the taproom (or both taprooms, to be accurate). In fact, our DogTap crew will be piloting the OverWorks tap so you may see a few familiar faces!
The OverWorks taproom sits on a mezzanine level overlooking the production facility itself, so you can gaze out over the Italian foudres and Spanish Rioja barrels and watch the magic happen. Our programme of mixed fermentation revolves around wood; even the tap handles in the bar are made from recycled barrel staves by our friends at Wood Recyclability in Pitmedden, a few miles south-west of Ellon.
First taste of the beers out of @BDOverWorks and colour me impressed. Very accessible mixed fermentation sours, with enough complexity to interest your bona fide beer geek. pic.twitter.com/ghZDV460CY

The BrewDog OverWorks taproom opens for the first time at 5pm on Friday April 13th and will then be open every Friday (5pm-10pm), Saturday (12pm-10pm) and Sunday (12pm-7pm). It doesn’t serve food for now but you are welcome to grab a pizza from DogTap and carefully escort it across the road to enjoy with the very best sour and wild beers anywhere. These are beers we love to drink and are now utterly psyched that we can pour them from our very own dedicated bar.
If you’d like to keep up with the goings-on at the OverWorks, check out the official OverWorks social media feeds on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

This is a superb addition to the fleet with game changing beers.
