NEW BREW WEDNESDAY!

There’s no escaping it, we’re all waving that metaphorical handkerchief as Summer 2015 pulls away from the platform, never to return. But before we get too teary-eyed about the prospect of colder weather and shorter days, think about this. Transitioning into Autumn means hissing and crackling bonfires; it means digging out that favourite scarf or hat. It means breath misting at afternoons of football, dog walking or window-shopping, as crunchy leaves pile up in doorways.
But it also means seasonal beers. And in that regard, this week we have got you covered.
Pumpkin King
One of the most seasonal of all flavours has to be the delicately sweet and spicy pumpkin. Back with plenty of time to be garlanded with fake cobwebs before Halloween is our take on this modern beer classic – and it has undergone a stealth coronation since last year, to return as Pumpkin King (retaining Johnathan Reiner's amazing label art). All hail the polar opposite of the typical overwhelmingly cloying pumpkin ales that are churned out at this time of year!
Pumpkin King leads with the expected heady potency of spice on the aroma, but following into the taste it is coupled with a series of bright, complementary zesty citrus flavours. These lift the beer upwards and away from heavy, overly-saccharine pumpkin beers of old, into a dry and spicy celebration of all things Autumnal. Toasted marshmallow, toffee apple and other seasonal treats all peek out from the flavour profile in a complex beer perfect for this time of year.
Candy Kaiser
Also hitting the online shop today is a beer that rounds out our hugely successful seasonal beer programme for this year. Our Northern German retro Altbier Candy Kaiser (re-christened from its previous guise as Alt Amber) is the perfect beer to grip a little tighter as the nights draw in and cold air sweeps under doorways - and for those seeking something authentic to cling onto, we also have a bespoke half pint alt-style beer glass available in the online shop!
Candy Kaiser has a big, confident aroma of toffee fudge and a hint of dark fruit before being followed by a flavour rich in caramel, but with a minerality on the finish typical of the altbier style. Brewed in the traditional method of lagering a beer brewed with ale yeast, Candy Kaiser is a pure celebration of the malt bill. Our seasonal for October-December revels in the resultant flavour profile, leaving a beer that is rich, warming and very, very moreish.
Both Pumpkin King and Candy Kaiser will launch on draught across our UK Bars at 6pm this Friday 18th September, alongside the latest release from our Ellon pilot kit – Pilot Brew 012, a wheat braggot brewed with orange blossom honey, Curacao orange peel, coriander, rosewater and ginger.
So get that favourite scarf on, reach for that thicker coat and let us know what you think!

And both new beers are available on draught, so we can try before we buy.
Looking forward to trying a bright, zesty pumpkin beer, as opposed to the usual bland offerings at this time of year.
