NEW GUEST BEER MENU

The doors of the fridges in our BrewDog bars are see-though, for obvious reasons. Even so, we like to think that hiding behind are all kinds of mysteries – beery discoveries yet to be made, or old friends with which to be reunited. The world of craft beer continues to yield amazing results that cover every conceivable style, strength and flavour; from the UK, Europe and overseas. And we take great pride in sourcing the very best to install behind those glass doors of our BrewDog fridges.

And this week, we’re going all-out to make that guest beer selection even better.

Next time you get up on tiptoes to take a peek behind the bar, or pick up one of our guest beer menus from a tabletop, you’ll notice the change. We are launching a brand new list, which has been painstakingly curated to provide a fantastic choice of different breweries, and covering the full range of styles. From up and coming breweries to all-time classics; we are hugely excited to say that the guest bottle list in our bars will now be better than ever.

Sure, we could print the list in full here. But trying different beer is all about discovery, about searching things out. So we’ll leave the full list up to you to unearth, next time you’re in your local BrewDog bar. But to give an indication of the standard, here are five of the beers that you will very soon be able to enjoy in each and every UK bar. If you get to try any of these five, or any of the other guest beers we have on offer, leave us a comment below as to your thoughts!

Ballast Point Sculpin (7.0%)

If you make a 7% IPA in Southern California, then it had better be a good one. Sculpin is that and more - an India Pale Ale that packs a huge amount of citrus and tropical fruit flavour but without trading away any of the balance. The result of years of experimentation by Jack and Yuseff at Ballast Point, it’s a perfect depiction of the signature style for craft beer – and a beer that when we were drawing up our guest beer list, was one of the very first names on the sheet.

Wild Beer Indigo Child (8.0%)

A collaboration with Italian brewer Toccalmatto, Indigo Child was one of the ‘Rainbow Collaboration’ series of beers, and sees Wild Beer Co at their best. A gooseberry sour, it is at once herbal, sharp, refreshing and with a persistent flavour of berry fruit to complement the more bitter green fruit that were used. Indigo Child is fascinating and hugely drinkable; it’s a flag-bearer for the rise of experimentation and collaboration, two of the twin pillars of modern craft brewing.

Firestone Walker Union Jack (7.5%)

We love our West Coast IPA’s, here at BrewDog. To be honest, we could probably stock our fridges with nothing but, such is the quality of home-grown and import hop bombs. Another offering in our fridges from this week on is the majestic Firestone Walker Union Jack, a double dry-hopped beer that sings with tangerine and sweet, pithy citrus. Six different varietals were used in that dry-hopping process (Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe) – and on tasting, you can really see that every single cone was utterly justified.

Siren Mum’s the Word (5.0%)

Darker beers have come a long way since the days of base porters and stouts, and this particular one is at the very top of the tree. Another collaboration, Mum’s the Word is a smoked chipotle and cherry milk porter, which Siren Craft Brew produced with the Arizona Wilderness brewery. It’s like nothing you’ve ever tasted – sweet and roasty from the hand-smoked malt, with a riot of tangy cherry and spicy, smoky chipotle chillies. It’s earthy, prickly and immensely rewarding, at every stage.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Dessert (11.0%)

Finally for this mini-list, we end on – quite literally – the perfect beer to finish with. Mikkeller’s Beer Geek series have been some of the most highly-regarded beers to be released anywhere, and the Dessert version is simply sublime. French press coffee, cocoa and vanilla give a depth of flavour that is unparalleled – it has a finish that you could fall into. If ever there was something to round off a perfect evening, then this exceptional beer is very definitely it.

Great that additional flavours are appearing in the bars.......However, I am a lager drinker and can't seem to see any of your brewdog lager stocked in any of the shops that sell the brewdog brand. Can this be rectified please?

Reece - I had Sculpin at the AGM, it was amazing. Looking forward to trying it on a regular basis - but I will also have to peruse - good word that - the rest of the menu next time I'm in. I am sure there will be plenty of other distractions on offer!

Far be it from me to be a contrarian to the Sculpin love-in, but I actually prefer Union Jack so I am glad to see it making the list!
