#REBREWDOG – THE WINNER

Just over a month ago we placed a near-impossible decision in your hands. Following hot on the heels of giving away the entirety of our brewhouse recipes as part of DIY Dog, we upped the ante by unleashing #ReBrewDog. Every beer no longer in production thrown back into the ring for one last potential hurrah – with our blog readers given the chance to select which was brewed again. Hundreds of beers. A single vote. And the people duly spoke.
The winning beer of #ReBrewDog is Hello My Name is Ingrid.
In a poll that contained beers as far apart as Punk Monk and our B-Side Melon and Cucumber IPA it was to the North that our voters leaned – as far north as the Arctic Circle, in fact. From the land of the long, low light we will once again be sourcing cloudberries to add to a brew of our 8.5% Swedish-inspired double IPA, originally released in the first few months of 2011.
It doesn’t seem like five years ago since Ingrid marked the debut of not just a beer, but an entire series (the many subsequent Hello My Name Is… releases). But it was entirely fitting that the first of these was produced for one of our longest-standing and most passionate groups of BrewDog supporters anywhere; a group who have recently greeted their fourth Swedish bar – BrewDog Malmö.
Hello My Name is Ingrid was brewed in conjunction with our good friends at BeerSweden, who travelled over to Fraserburgh in the midst of the fittingly tundra-like winter of 2010 to join us on the brewday. With a classic West Coast IPA baseline, the beer was hopped to the Baltic and back before the addition of the enigmatic cloudberry (and a further berry-load during conditioning).
It was only right that the guys at BeerSweden were given the responsibility for christening the new beer, and being a democratic bunch they immediately put it out to a competition. Their readers returned with the quintessential ‘Ingrid’, suggested in a neat twist of fate by Magnus Svensson who now works as our Swedish BrewDog bar supremo!
Since reprised as the session-strength Hello My Name is Little Ingrid, we can’t wait to get to work brewing a batch of her trailblazing double cloudberry IPA cousin. The resultant beer will be available on draft in our BrewDog bars and in bottle as an Equity Punk-exclusive, as a thank you to everyone who has invested in us along the way (in a second co-incidence, Equity for Punks was first introduced in the same year as Ingrid, back in 2011).
Our Swedish supporters have been there since the beginning, and it’s probable that a fair few of them exercised their democratic right to ensure #ReBrewDog would be a reunion with the beer we brewed for them all those years ago! Hello My Name is Ingrid will hit our brewing schedule soon – we will keep you posted as to how it goes – and thanks for everyone who took the time to vote!
But if we did a second round of #ReBrewDog…what might you vote for this time?
