SIDEWALK SHARK

SIDEWALK SHARK

Our recent rundown of some of the beers in the pipeline here at BrewDog was a mere hint at what the future holds for our network of bars. The flexibility given by our amazing pilot kit means we can drop beers into our UK Bars whenever the need arises. Like now, for instance! Our small-batch brewers have been working to capture a beer perfect for the last few weeks of summer – and it launches on draft across our network of home bars next week.

Introducing our latest release – SideWalk Shark.

When the sun lingers, sours or citrusy pale ales can sure hit the spot – so our brewing team have turned to a classic style from central Europe that combines both. When the late summer heat is out in force we think a Gose is the perfect refresher. These highly carbonated, tart and fruity wheat beers have been brewed since the Middle Ages – they are fascinating to create and amazing to drink, so perfect for our small-batch programme!

Our head of all things sour Richard Kilcullen joined forces with our pilot kit team to brew SideWalk Shark – an authentic German-style gose with a series of BrewDog twists. Weighing in at 5.0% it is hopped with Magnum, Mosaic and Amarillo against a background of five different malts, including the traditional pilsner malt and wheat. Alongside the classic additions of coriander and salt we have amped the beer to new heights with a kick of citrus from lemon peel and kaffir lime leaf.

The result is the perfect summer beer – effervescent in the glass and bursting with flavour. The pithy zest from the fruit and the refreshing tart sourness balance each other and the herbal spice from the coriander seeds, before the salt appears on the finish to round everything off. SideWalk Shark is a beer to be drunk right now, in your summer gear, and we are stoked with how it turned out!

We are launching the beer on draft across our network of UK BrewDog Bars next week so head on down to sample it. If you are in Aberdeen tomorrow and would like to chat to the guys that made it then you are in luck – Richard Kilcullen and pilot kit supremo Fabio Prete will be holding court in our flagship bar BrewDog Aberdeen from 7pm on Thursday the 17th of August, so be sure and get there for that first unveiling and to pick up some first-hand tasting notes.

As ever, if you get a chance to try SideWalk Shark gose then let us know your thoughts in the comments below this blog, or tag @BrewDog in your social media posts. We love the versatility of our pilot kit, and how we can use it to tailor beers to any situation – even the most fleeting of British summers. With Side-Walk Shark we have the perfect pairing for the dog-days of August.

I'm a Huge fan of Nanny State, the only near zero beer that actually tastes like real beer. How about making a low-alc version, say 1%, of this? Possible, or just crazy?

Get it in cans and in the online shop

This sounds right up my street so I will keep an eye out for it. Gose are really interesting and I agree with the comments that they are perfect for summer. I think you can lump Berliner Weisse in there as well but I'm happy enough with a Gose

Epic that sounds like another winner
