TWO BEER THURSDAY

TWO BEER THURSDAY

As it’s been a couple of weeks since Hop Fiction became beer fact and hit the shelves of our online shop we have dialled in another beer release for you – and it features not one, but two amazing new dark brews that launch today. The first is the long-awaited result of our collaboration with an incredible brewery and the second the first small-batch canned release of the year.

Our Beavertown collab and Semi-Skimmed Occultist are out now.

BrewDog vs Beavertown – Coffee and Cigarettes

Hot on the heels of our hook-up with Cloudwater, we have another partnership with a UK brewer at the very top of their game. London’s finest Beavertown need no introduction, and it was awesome to welcome the guys to Ellon a while ago to create a beer riffing on the theme of how to battle against the early mornings faced by brewers. Our pre-dawn voyage of discovery ended, stumbling into daybreak, with a smoke and caffeine themed heavyweight aged in three different whisky casks.

A 12.1% Imperial Stout, we rose before the sun to blend nine different malts, coffee and dark Muscovado Sugar into a baseline you could stand a spoon in. The beer was then kettle-hopped with Magnum and Chinook before being aged in casks of peaty Islay, oaky Bourbon and spicy Rye whiskies. Dry, peaty and roasty, this is a true palate awakener with raisin, mocha, caramel and molasses notes and will charge your soul and glassware both.

Semi-Skimmed Occultist

Also launching today we have the first of our small-batch Wildcards for 2017. The series that last year brought you Albino Squid Assassin, Restorative Beverage, Neon Overlord and Self Assembly Pope tunes up for another year of beery discovery with our brand new chocolate, coffee and vanilla oatmeal milk stout. Rounding out at 8% we set out with a single goal in mind for this beer – to create something truly decadent that welcomes you like a chocolate milkshake.

We set to work by introducing everything we could think of that would raise the body and cushion the mouthfeel. The result is a beer that is best enjoyed on those dark, early-spring evenings when the weather is yet to break and the cold still seeps in around the door jambs. Expect malted milk, roasty espresso and mellow vanilla in a full-bodied beer that is rich, deep and rewarding and looks amazing thanks to can artwork from the awesome guys at The Red Dress.

In fact, we love it so much that we have made it into a limited-edition print!

Aside from being available now in our online shop, both of these dark wonders will be launching on draft from the taps of our UK bars from 6pm this Thursday, 16th March! If you manage to sample either or both, as always let us know what you think by sending us your tasting notes in the comments below!

Both of these beers sound great, but I'm not a huge fan of smokey stuff so will try the Bevertown one with an open mind! The Semi Skimmed Occultist looks amazing though and I bet will be delicious
