UPCOMING BREWS – THE LATEST FROM HQ

UPCOMING BREWS – THE LATEST FROM HQ

It’s time to gaze fondly into the (dark) crystal ball once more, and from its swirly depths determine what beers will be stocking your cellar over the coming weeks (and possibly months).

BREWING

LIVE Dead Pony Club

Real ale for modernists. LIVE Dead Pony Club is a new perspective on our session pale ale (in case you didn’t already know). Our first batch has gone down an absolute storm, so we jumped to it and have brewed another batch, with more to follow every two weeks. LIVE Dead Pony Club has amazing citrus and fresh pine character, and served in our new patent pending format, it has a superb full-bodied mouthfeel.

Tokyo*

We’ve been dialling in our 300HL brewhouse for a little while now, and our trusted 100HL kit has been given a little bit of a break. It’s not in our nature to rest on our laurels of course, so having given our brew team a chance to catch their breath for a few minutes, we’re now lining up a gargantuan beer on our original Site 1 equipment. Tokyo* takes a lot of knowledge, time and effort to get right, but it’s completely worth it, and we’re brewing more soon. This 16.5% ABV imperial stout comes loaded with jasmine and oak character, adding an intergalactic dimension to the rich chocolate, coffee and warming alcohol.

Chili Hammer

In just over a fortnight, our Lead Brewer Franz will see his chili-based dreams become reality, as we jack up our west coast IPA with Habanero, Red Scorpion, and Scotch Bonnet chilis. Bitterness is increased by capsaicin heat, so our latest Hammer Head will burn up your understanding of IBUs, and most probably force your palate into a full factory reset. Food pairing – Phall. Because, why not*.

* there are lots of reasons why not.

Neon Overlord

Another chili-infused IPA will take the stage alongside Chili Hammer – but Neon Overlord will feature the cooling addition of mango. Melded with Habanero heat, this fruity addition will echo the tropical flavours we’ll infuse with our over-the-top dry-hops. This sweet-toothed hot-tempered Overlord will showcase another incredible custom illustration on the can, which have just this week gone live as epic t-shirts in our online shop!

MATURATION

AB:21

Our next Abstrakt concept beer is almost upon us, and currently resides in tank, where the blackcurrant and liquorice flavours are slowly softening the boozy warmth of a 12% stout. This beer marks a new direction for Abstrakt – our brand new bottles are screen-printed and will come wax dipped, which along with the now brown glass, will help you to age your beer for longer with less potentially adverse effects. The contents will of course continue to test the boundaries of beer, and each Abstrakt will be brewed once and once only.

PACKAGING

Ace of Citra

Single hop session IPA, brewed with one of our favourite big C hops; what’s not to love? We can’t answer that to be honest, we’re perfectly happy with how our upcoming 4.5% citrus bomb is tasting, and it will be launching next week. Light, biscuity and dry, with toasty notes built into the malt backbone, layered with hints of juicy blackcurrant and lime zest, Ace of Citra lands during the height of the summer – perfect for drinking outdoors, whiling away the evenings over a game of cards. *coughs* Did we mention we have awesome Ace of Hops playing cards in the Online Shop? We did? Cool.

Let us know in the comments which of these new beers you are looking forward to the most!

Any news on when the 2 chili beers will be available?
Pete H 15.08.2016 @ 12:36pm
Glad you are making some more Live Pony Club. Your Nottingham bar ran out fairly quickly (sorry !)
And more Tokyo*. And Chilli Hammer.
Bring it on ....
Alan E 13.08.2016 @ 1:24pm
What a fantastic set of beers! The two chilli themed IPAs look particulary amazing, with Habanero and Mango being a wonderful match up... have a chilli sauce or two with this exact combo :)

And AB:21 looks pretty cool too... a pretty wonderful selection to look forward to...
hystrix cristata 12.08.2016 @ 1:16pm
Two chili beers, you're really spoiling us.

Bring back 18.2% Tokyo* it has never been anywhere near as good since you dropped the ABV.
Bumblebeer 11.08.2016 @ 5:01pm
Tokyo* may be your unique selling point in the US imo ???????? like Punk IPA is in the UK...
BrewDog Rich 11.08.2016 @ 2:34pm
Dave R - Well remembered - we thought it had great promise as a potential future barrel aged brew, so have placed it in oak to develop further!
Dave R 11.08.2016 @ 1:46pm
What happened to the batch of Clown King that was mentioned in the upcoming brews blog back in Feb?
Acer 11.08.2016 @ 1:26pm
that neon overlord tshirt looks incredible
Mark 11.08.2016 @ 1:23pm
Disagree with Andy, the live Pony has a different and deeper flavour profile because of the yeast. Each to their own though!
Fraguk1982 11.08.2016 @ 12:08pm
Always get excited about a new Abstrakt, but a new batch of Tokyo* as well (my personal favourite beer of all time) make me a very happy chappy.
Andy 11.08.2016 @ 12:03pm
We tried the Live DP alongside the DP in Manchester yesturday. The Live was hazy and lacked condition, the normal DP was much nicer. However I don't really like DP anyway, I much prefer Punk and Jackhammer.
Paul 11.08.2016 @ 11:54am
Those tshirts look really good, I like the sound of the Neon Over Lord :)
Neil 11.08.2016 @ 11:26am
I tried the live beer in Cardiff the other week it was really good, preferred it to regular dead pony to be honest
